The University of West Georgia (UWG) is a public university located in Carrollton, Georgia, United States. It was established in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School, focusing primarily on agricultural and vocational education. In 1933, the institution became West Georgia College, a junior college that offered two-year programs. The college continued to grow and expand its curriculum, eventually becoming a four-year institution in 1957. In 1996, it adopted its current name, University of West Georgia, and became part of the University System of Georgia.
